Currently serving at Regency Hospital since 1999, he has successfully performed more than 12,000 cardiac surgeries, including over 8,000 beating heart (OPCAB) surgeries. An alumnus of King George’s Medical University, he also worked with Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre and trained internationally at Uppsala University Hospital. Dr. Akhtar is recognized for pioneering the first Off-Pump CABG surgery in Uttar Pradesh.
